Not much is going on here. Still working at Walmart coming up on a year next month! Have a couple days to enroll for my benefits have to get on the ball. Going to try to look for a second job again mabey ill have more luck with the holidays. Still alot of b.s. going on but trying to not let it get me down. Have to clean up apartment (its a pig sty lol) i think a mouse got in the wall and died!!!!!! It stinks!!!!! I have a habit of dreading going to work on Tuesdays cause i am always put where i dont want to be so i am trying to fix my mindframe and tell myself im gonna try my best and not be mad the whole nite!!!!!! So far ive lost 50 pounds since last year!!!!!! I have 25 to go then im at my target weight!!! But im content with where im at now!!!!!!! Ok im writing a book lol!!!!!!!! Gotta go!!!!!

OK, some really good news...I bought my condo and got moved in. My daughter, son and granddaughter have been out visiting for a week from London. It was so great seeing them and having that time with them, they left this morning so I am back to work, but what a wonderful time we had.

I know all of you know gayle but some of you may not know how sick she has been ..She has spent the last 30 days in and out of hospitals..the latest surgery she got to take home as a token for her troubles was a gall stone the size of a small grapefruit. Anyway without going into all her business please know she is very ill and any prayers and good wishes her way would be most appreciated...Hope you all are doing well Phil is very excited to be back on the boat but i am quite sure travelling around meeting you all is a lot more fun than freezing his you know whats off on the boat...He really is doing well and says to say hi and thanks for all you guys do for him...

Sounds like the boats may be getting a rough start to their season. Weather forecast in the Bering sea calls for 25-40 knot winds, 8-12 foot seas, and rain and snow showers through Wednesday. Whew!

Hello Ladies – I’ve finally given in to my inner Deadliest Catch fanaticism. Can I be a DC Sistah?
Season 1 & 2, it was barely on my radar screen. Season 3, watched a few times, but it terrified me. These guys must be crazy! Season 4, didn’t miss an episode – watched all the marathons and reruns. Afterward, I downloaded all the podcasts and episodes from itunes and watch when I can’t find anything else DC.
Now, with the season about to begin, the thought of all the boats out there, with the weather closing in is driving me crazy! I’ve loaded up my google page with everything DC I can think of. My google reader searches through all the blogs for new posts, I’ve loaded every DC search term I can think of in my google alerts, and have links to every DC website I can find (including yours. I’m so glad I found it. What a hoot!), Bering Sea weather, webcams, the whole nine yards.
Have I missed anything? Are there other resources out there that I should dial in to? I’ve never done a myspace or facebook thing. Is that the way to go? How will we get updates on the season until the show premieres in April? Please help feed my addiction!
Thanks for the work that has gone into your page. It’s great. Looking forward to being part of the family. Is there an initiation?

Hey sistahs! It is good to see some of the veteran sistahs here. (Veteran sounds much better than old! lmao!!!). I hope everyone is doing great. I have been in and out of the hospital the past two weeks with kidney stones and I still have 2 more to go. This sucks!!!! So, keep me in your prayers because one of them may require them to do surgery to go in and retrieve it. I am praying that won't happen. Other than that not much else is going on here. Our poor Captains are fixing to be back at it again! I am glad because that means a new season will be right around the corner. Okay, maybe not RIGHT AROUND the corner, but if I think of it any other way the withdrawals start back up and I am utterly useless at that point! lmao!!! hello ((((((((hugs for my sistahs)))))) kate funny you should mention the festival tab was just telling her friends about it the day before yesterday we will definitely be there! claudia! congrats on the new baby woohoo what a cutie patutie!. Elf omg that friggin felon thing blew my mind not are there quite a few around me but there are 5 within a mile radius pretty freaky considering they are for attempted vehicular manslaughter (nj's got a ton of road ragers), attempted kidnapping, and attempted sexual stuff ugh. welcome to the 13th nicest place to live in the country pretty scary huh? think ill move to the desert, lol.
well we had a tail end of a nor'easter for tabs bday party thank God for pavilions at the park, the kids still played on the playground anyway and we ended up with 36 black tooshys at the end of the day, lol. funny though all 100 people showed up and we had a good time.
im still doing real estate which is still "stuck on suckey" right now but since May ive been working at a church/preschool where tab used to go. i do admin work and sub in the classrooms and omg kids are funny! i think ive learned more from my students then ever so i decided to share my experiences with you.
on our trip to the potty we were all lined up in the hallway except for one little boy who opened the door with his pants down and yelled "ms.bonnie is my butt clean?" and bent over for all of us.
LESSON: teach your kids not to do that pulease!!!
while learning colors i asked "what else can you find in the room thats brown?" one of my students replied.."parts of your hair by your head" needless to say i came home after school and colored my roots.
LESSON: keep haircolor in check
while talking about how important it is to always work hard at school and learn as much as you can one little girl who is chinese replied..."my mommy says chinese kids are the smartest and everyone else is dumb" funny if she said it like her mom word for word that would that make her mom dumb too wouldnt it? too funny (thats if her mom said it even.
LESSON: watch what you teach and tell your kids they will repeat it to strangers and friends
while standing on the playground watching all of the kids play one of them came up behind me wrapped his hands around my leg and started banging his face off of my buttcheek when i asked why he was doing that and to please stop he said " i like your butt its nice and bouncy" i wanted to die, lmao
LESSON: teach the kids to not only keep their heads out of their own butts but yours as well.
there is one little girl who just rips my heart out, she is from india and does not speak english, so far ive managed to teach her "mama" in english, this poor lil thing must weigh about 20 lbs tops and is 2.5 yrs old and she cries from the minute her mom pulls in the lot until she comes to get her, the only thing that stops her is when i pick her up and sing twinkle twinkle little star at the end she claps and says "yay" and then starts to cry again right after, needless to say i spend a lot of time singing that dang song! and telling her mama will be here in a minute.
mind you it has only been 3.5 weeks since school started i think its going to be a funny year.

Hello all my beloved DC Sistahs!!!! 
I'm sorry for my absence but I've been peeking in from time to time. Its just that taking care of 4 of my grandchildren has been painful but I am so happy they are with me......makes me see what I missed when my own 2 were growing up...that is the downfall of my having children early in my life. I missed a lot of the little things that make being a parent so wonderful. I am happy to report that with God's help, they are happy healthy kids AND doing great in school!
Since I was last here, my son and his wife have added to their "little" family. The baby is yet another boy....makes 4 for them. But they are no longer going to try for a girl. They are happy with our four boys.

Hey Sistahs long time no post. My house has been a war zone since February with new construction. I had to let go one contractor and now the new one begins this week. Living out of boxes and not being able to fine anything stinks!
I know that you guys have a ton of knowledge and experience with animals. My latest forsters are in a great deal of difficulty. A 13 year old is in liver failure and a 5 year old is full of heart worms. I am blending raw liver along with milkthissle and some immuine syetem. Is there anything else anyone knows about how to bring the dog out of liver failure? The seven pound HW+ guy I have given him heartguard and am going to get black walnut to go along with M.F. Bromelain to disolve the dead worms the heartguard kills. Does anyone have any more holistic ideas I could try? These guys are Miniature Pinchers.
Does anyone know if Philicious will be fishing this season? What is Johnatan up to? Long summer without the cold Bering Sea.

Well, I feel like a little kid today. I went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup and got a flu shot and a booster shot for tetanus and whooping cough of all things. Apparantly all adults need the booster now. So will I be like a little kid and get a fever too? Boo=Hoo....

talk about mixed emotion kate! jeez, i know he was your baby ummm one huge baby that was one big horse!, i know you will miss him and dont think he wont miss you either, they never forget someone who loves them. but what an awesome thing that he found a home im so happy!!! ill tell tab tomorrow wait im not sure if she will be upset that he's not there next time we come back, ill have to think about this....she loved feeding him treats!. im sure there will be more babies for her to play with when we do get back though, hubby had a nice time when we were there last as well, its such a peaceful place. tab still refuses to give up her quilt, believe it or not she lays it over her hannah montana comforter every morning when she makes her bed, i think its kinda cute! lol.

hello!! hope all of you in ikes path are safe and sound now. sorry ive been away, had to have a little surgery im ok now. i was watching the tube and for those of you who arent aware. Sig is up for an award on the "Fox Reality Tv" awards. if you go to foxreality.com and click on vote you can vote for him ( yes more than once). the vote is announced on oct. 11, so hurry up!! just thought id fill you guys in. it has been a busy month, back to school, finally got that monkey of a house off my back, we've got a really nice tenant i think its going to work out well. we are planning tabs bday bash, what started out as a small picnic has grown into a 100 person bash, we are going to have so much fun though! woohoo!. tab started voice lessons and loves it, hip hop starts next week, and well as usual hubby is away working all the time no wonder why we've lasted this long, lol. any word on phil? they kinda left us hanging i know he didnt have many answers and its still a waiting game, but im still concerned.

I can't even imagine.... Our cousins in FL got thru Andrew some years ago - sitting in the bathroom with mattresses all around them. A few days later they all jumped in the car with what they were wearing and drove up here for some fresh water and electricity! They lost most of their clothing and some furniture because part of the roof ripped off. I just can't fathom it....

Well I made it through Ike with minor damange to the garage roof. I have been through hurricanes before but it is much scarier at night because once you loose power it is totally dark and you can not see a thing. My pack of dogs slept thru the hurricane force winds early Sat. Morning but when the cold front came in on Sunday morning they were barking at the thunder.
I started cleaning the yard Sat. afternoon in the light rain and finished yesterday. I have some tree branches that still need to be removed from trees due to them hanging down. I got my power back around noon today but a powerline is still down across the front yard going across the street. My neighbor across the street had the power lines ripped off from their house and the power line is on the ground across their back yard. There is a top of a pine tree on the garageand the rest of the tree is in the backyard of the neighbor behind them. Several houses in my neighborhood their garages are completely totaled due to trees falling on them.
I am on a mini vacation and I go back to work on Monday teaching my third graders.

Well I am just like Denise in getting ready for Ike. I am going to be on the "dirty" side of Ike when it hits the coast. That is the east side of the eye, where you get all the strong wind and heavy rain. I went to two grocery stores tonight to get ice. One was completely sold out and the other had maybe 20 bags left.
I have started to medicate the hooligans( my pack of inside dogs) so they will be nice and calm Friday night and Saturday morning. I do not want 4 50+ lbs dogs and 1 36 lb dog landing on my head or legs Friday and Saturday.:86

Hope everyone is doing good. It looks like we will be getting some of Ike in central Texas, I am so glad I don't live in a mobile home anymore.
I am kinda bummed...finally finsihed making my plans for a trip to Tacoma juggling schedules between work, parents and the guy I am gonna see...and I realize that the Captains are out fishing when I am there ... so I don't even have the chance to go see the Sea Star and Larry. Well hopefully the next trip I things work out so that they aren't off fishing.

BaditaJen! - - Thanks for the info on good beginner birds! Where can I look for these? I had a bird YEARS ago as a kid, but I am once again intrigued. The Sun Conures are gorgeous, and I've seen a few on Petfinder, but most are special needs and/or won't adopt out unless you've had bird experience. Geez! I can take care of a 1200 lb horse just fine! So maybe that will count as bird experience!
I helped my daughter move her horse today. He was a rescue, and the poor guy must have had a REALLY bad experience with horse trailers at some point in his life. When we brought him to his new home the first time it took THREE HOURS to get him on the trailer. Now that my daughter moved, the barn she was at was too far away for her to go see him. So we moved him today and this time we got the vet to come out tranquilize him for the trip up the ramp! Poor guy. We led him out and he was in la-la land, but darn - don't ya think he knew what we were trying to do! So I was guiding from the front and my daughter and the vet were bringing up the rear - so to speak.. It took half an hour, but he did it! We had to put a towel over his eyes to get him in all the way, and boy did he look silly, but out of sight out of mind...
I followed the trailer for about 10 miles untii I had to turn off for home and he was enjoying the ride - although listing to the right a little in the back end - poor guy, but he was alert at the front end! Ears up and looking here and there.
A few miles down the road, my daughter called me and said he pooped right out the back of the trailer into the middle of a busy intersection! Hope he didn't aim for the car behind him -
All settled in nicely now tho. ! That's my horse story for today.

Actually, most Conures aren't loud. Suns and Jendays can be loud, but with a proper environment and care, they aren't so loud. Just got to give them something else to do, lol.
A few years ago, we took in Gonzo, a black capped conure. He was only 8", but this bird scared the heck out of me (a rare thing considering I work with Macaws that are 24"+ and can break broomsticks easily with their beaks), lol. He would chase me around the house. He came from a "not nice" home, putting it nicely.
I kept standing my ground with Gonzo, and eventually, he became my lil lover. He'd sit on my shoulder and defend me, lol. Something I never expected from him. I loved him no matter what (I still have scars from him, one on my nose and lip, cuz I was determined to give him kisses, lol).
If you want to start out with Conures, I'd suggested Maroon Bellies, they're totally lil lovers, lol. And they don't have a loud scream.
My second suggestion would be Quakers. They're beautiful little birds. They're really misunderstood. They can be head strong....if you let them. But once you let them know you won't put up with them being pushy. THEY ARE SUCH LOVIES!!! I absolutely love Quakers. I even volunteer to take in the wild caughts that get rescued.
A few years ago, we went to Iowa. To take in 4 WILD CAUGHT Quakers from Brazil. Imagine, 4 birds in the back of a little car, never handled, freaking out.........in the middle of a SNOW storm, lol. But we got thru it, I was determined, they were my loves. When we got them, they still had their USDA leg bands on, which helped me track where they had been. None of them were "nice" but they were the loves of my life, lol. We'd sit and whistle to each other. It took months before they trusted me, but they did. They now live with a friend of mine who has a huge aviary, something I couldn't give them (until I win the lottery, lol).
OH MY!! Sorry for the rambling, lol. I guess birds is something I shouldn't get to talking about.
I guess, in my experience, birds don't seem to get a lot of thought.
In the last 2 weeks, we've been overloaded with take in apppeals (people who didn't know what they were getting into when getting a bird). They need to rehome these birds.
And unfortunately, we don't have the money/means to help right now.
It just kills me.

Hello Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA. Work has been pretty hectic and I have been trying to learn as much as I can. Also, we had a bit of a sad spot. Miss Cherie Baby...our first Saint Bernard. The one that I drove all the way to Georgia to pull out of the shelter. Well our girl finally had to be put down. Her back legs were going and then a few weeks ago her front legs just stopped working. Her decline was swift, but we knew the time had come to let her go. The vet said he remembers the condition she was in when we first brought her in...malnourished, HW positive, terrible teeth. He said he never had a dog look better when she was being put down than when she first walked in. Anyway...it was a hard, but necessary thing to be done. I laid along side her while they did it and she went peacefully.
The rest of my life is busy but routine...work, home, work, home, taking care of mom, work, home, work, home, taking care of the pups...I do manage to fit an occasional social function and I am dating so things aren't all work, work, work.
Anyway...Deb...thanks for missing me. I'm touched. I hope all is well with your critters and where are you now? Bunny...How's it hopping? Robin...How's all with you?

Kate- I feel your pain. I do Exotic bird rescue and rehab. 
Thankfully, I've been blessed with the ability to do more rescue and rehab than adoption. The 3 birds I actually let be adopted out, were NOT treated well and came back to me.
I have no children, so my birds have become my kids, I wouldn't have it anyother way.
I currently do behavior work with birds and their owners. I can't even explain the happiness it brings me (doing what I love). Of course, it costs me more than I gain (I can't bring myself to charge money for what I do).
I currently have an active flock of 16. Imagine.....having 16 three year olds running around, lol. That's my daily life, lol, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. They're the loves of my life and the reason I get out of bed every morning.
Even when Klause (Goffins Cockatoo) nibbles on a $100 remote, ug. I still love/adore her. I know, she only does it because she wants to be the center of attention. And always wants to be with us.
My boyfriend and I take the birds every where with us. Home Depot has pics (they love us there), they have also been to Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears, Khols and a few local shops. It always amazes me, how much people don't know about birds. They really are like having kids. They need the same attention.
Sorry for the rambling. I'm a total animal lover. Grew up in a redneck zoo (at one point we had 9 cats, 6 dogs, 7 hamsters, 3 lizards, 4 fish tanks, 2 turtles, 4 snakes and 5 ferrets), not to include my parents and us 5 kids, lol. In a 2 bedroom/1 bath house.
I love horses, just have never been in a position to have one. I'd LOVE to see pics and hear stories.

As most of you all know I work with rescue horses in my spare time. One of my favorite guys - a gorgeous appaloosa found a great home - but it's about 500 miles from here. - It was the saddest/happiest evning when I put that horse on the trailer to go. I thought for sure I'd be hanging off the back and the shopper would find me the next day plasterd to the back door. I cried for 2 days. The good news is we have pics of him in his new home and he looks happy - munching away..... looks like a road trip to go see him maybe?
